What Is Support Coordination, and Do You Need It?

Support coordination is funding to help you understand, implement, and get the most out of your NDIS plan — but it's not automatically included, and not everyone needs it. If you're confident managing your own providers, scheduling, and paperwork, you may not need it at all. But if you're new to the NDIS, managing a complex mix of supports, or finding it hard to get providers lined up, a support coordinator can save a significant amount of time and stress. A good support coordinator does more than just book services — they help you understand your plan, connect you with the right providers for your goals, and step in when something isn't working. They should be working for your goals, not steering you toward particular providers for convenience. If your current plan doesn't include support coordination funding but you feel you need it, that's worth raising directly at your next plan review, with specific examples of where the gap has caused problems.
